From The President

May/June 2018

Our Spring Sports Night marked our 25th consecutive year of getting together with friends, families, and co-workers. It was a fantastic evening of fellowship and fundraising for the Grosse Pointe Crisis Club. This year we had, over 300 in attendance at your Club’s largest fundraising event of the year. Our Sports Night Chairman and his committee Members did an outstanding job of putting this all together and securing all the wonderful raffle items that made this year’s event another great success.

Our Club is very grateful to have such a fine group of dedicated individuals who give of their time and talent to get the job done.

I am also happy to report that we had 9 people who took advantage of our Membership special during Sports Night. They will be listed in our New Membership Applications section of this newsletter. We welcome them to our Club. I would like to thank Richard Grosfield for his hard work and dedication in handling our Membership promotion on this evening.

With winter still beating down upon us it’s hard to imagine that golf season is still far away, but warmer weather is just around the corner and will soon be upon us. So will the Annual Kotcher’s Kapers Golf Outing, which will be held this year on Monday, July 30th, 2018 at Gowanie Golf Club. Please mark your calendars because it will be here before you know it. We are always in need of volunteers to help with the outing. If you can in any way help us on this day, please contact our chairman Jim Flannery at 313-882-6139 or via email at

I also want to thank all of our Newsletter Advertisers who continually support the Club with their advertising. I ask all Members to acknowledge and thank our Advertisers when you see them at one of our functions or when patronizing them.

In closing I would ask all of you to spend a little time and read our Crisis Cases and Thank You letters published in our newsletter. I want everyone to see all of the good work and help we provide to those in need. As we continue to get more and more requests for help, we must continue to raise funds to be able to provide the necessary needs. This is what we do, raise funds to help those in need.

The goal of your Trustees and Officers is to provide venues that not only raise the needed funds, but to also provide an enjoyable event for our Members and guests. If we can provide a day or evening of fun to you and at the same time raise funds then we have succeeded. If any of our Members have any thoughts on different events they would like to see us host, events that allow us to have fun with our family and friends, rekindle old friendships and make new ones, please contact any one of your Trustees or Officers by e-mail or give them a call with your ideas.  Thanks for all of your support of our Crisis Club.
